[SNAG-View] Dynamic groups

In SNAG-View version 3.6, it is possible to create dynamic host and service groups. Using filter definitions the members cyclically found and allocated.

Figure 1: Enabling an extension for a group

It works like this...

A host or service group can easily be converted into a dynamic group by enabling the extension in the Edit dialogue for the group (see Figure 1).

Instead of the simple assignment area for members, a conditions form is available in the configuration form. You can define a simple or nested filters with different types of links here (see Figure 2).

Figure 2: Filter definitions

The filtering can be set to various object attributes:

...for host groups:

Name (contains / RegEx and Negation)
Alias (contains / RegEx and Negation)
IP address or IP range and Negation
Note (contains / RegEx and Negation)
    In host group
    Custom variables (all types)

...for service groups

Name (contains / RegEx and Negation)
Alias (contains / RegEx and Negation)
IP address or IP range and Negation
Host note (contains / RegEx and Negation)
    In host group
    Host custom variables (all types)
Host services or services from service profiles
Service name (contains / RegEx and Negation)
Service note (contains / RegEx and Negation)
    Service custom variables (all types)
    Service profile and Negation

Example

This example filters two metrics (CPU and RAM ) on the ESX servers.

The assignment occurs a few seconds after saving a new group, and cyclically every x minutes. The recompute interval can be set using the Task Scheduler.
